Dog Stair Covers

First, gather your supplies. You will need wood (we suggest pine or poplar), wood glue, a saw, a drill, screws, sandpaper, and paint or stain of your choice. If you don’t have these supplies on hand, you can easily find them at your local hardware store.

Next, determine the height of your stairs based on the height of your bed or couch. Measure the distance from the floor to the top of your furniture and subtract a few inches to determine the height of your stairs. We suggest making each stair about six inches high.

Once you have your measurements, use the saw to cut the wood into the appropriate sizes. You will need two side pieces and several steps. The number of steps will depend on the height of your stairs.

Next, assemble your stairs. Lay the side pieces flat on the ground and attach the steps with wood glue and screws. Be sure to space the steps evenly and secure them tightly to the side pieces.

After everything is assembled, use sandpaper to smooth out any rough edges or surfaces.

Finally, it’s time to add some color and flair to your new dog stairs with paint or stain of your choice. We suggest a neutral color to match any decor, but feel free to get creative and make them your own.

Now that you’ve finished your DIY dog stairs, it’s time to introduce them to your furry friend. Use treats and positive reinforcement to encourage your dog to use the stairs. Once they get the hang of it, they’ll be climbing up and down with ease.
