Above Washer Shelf

Hey there, friends! Today I wanted to share with you a little DIY project that I recently tackled in my laundry room. I’ve been looking for a way to maximize the space in there, and one thing that always bothered me was the wasted space above my washer and dryer. So, after a little research and some brainstorming, I came up with the perfect solution – a DIY laundry shelf!

Step One: Measure and Cut

The first thing I did was measure the space above my washer and dryer to determine the size of the shelf I would need. Then, I headed to my local hardware store to pick up a piece of wood that would fit those measurements. I went with a sturdy pine board that was approximately 1 inch thick and 10 inches deep.

Step Two: Sand and Stain

Once I had my board, I sanded it down to remove any rough edges or splinters. Then, I applied a light coat of stain to give it a finished look. I chose a dark stain to match the rest of my laundry room decor.

Step Three: Mount the Shelf

Next, it was time to mount the shelf above my washer and dryer. I used heavy-duty L-brackets to ensure that it was sturdy and secure. I measured twice and made sure to level everything out before drilling the brackets into the wall.

And that’s it! My DIY laundry shelf was complete, and it has made a huge difference in my laundry room. I now have a convenient place to store laundry supplies, and the shelf adds a nice decorative touch to the space.
