No Mow May Vermont

Hey everyone!

Have you heard of No Mow May? It’s a campaign that is gaining popularity across the country, encouraging people to let their lawns grow wild for the month of May. The idea is that by letting our lawns grow, we can create a safe haven for pollinators, like bees and butterflies, who rely on flowers for food and habitat.

I think this is a great idea, and I’m happy to see that other people are starting to embrace it too. I came across two articles on the topic that I wanted to share with you.

The first article is from the official website of Stevens Point, WI. They have a great write-up on the benefits of No Mow May, and they even have a list of suggested alternative activities to do instead of mowing your lawn. Some of the ideas they suggest include planting wildflowers, creating a compost pile, or building a rain garden. These are all great ways to support our local ecology and reduce our impact on the environment.

The second article I found on Love Andover. It’s a brief overview of the No Mow May campaign, but it has a really cute graphic that I wanted to share with you. It shows a cartoon bee with a speech bubble that says, “Thanks for not mowing!” I think this is a great way to spread awareness about the campaign and make it more approachable and fun.

As for me, I’ve decided to participate in No Mow May this year. I’m excited to see what wildflowers will emerge in my yard, and I’m hoping to attract more pollinators to my garden. Plus, it’s one less chore on my to-do list, which is always a plus!

If you’re interested in participating in No Mow May, I encourage you to check out the resources I’ve shared and do some research of your own. It’s a small action we can take that can have a big impact on our local ecology. Let’s do our part to support our pollinator friends!
